Ana Bocanegra-Valle is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Cadiz (Spain) where she teaches Maritime English (English for Seafaring, English for the Shipping Business, and English for the Port Industry) at graduate and postgraduate levels. Her main research interests include Maritime English as a particular branch of ESP, ESP/EAP methodology and education (mainly needs analysis, learning strategies, and materials design), English for scholarly publishing and research publication purposes, and the analysis of discourse in academic and workplace settings. She has been the Editor-in-chief of the LSP journal Ibérica (ISSN 1139-7241) for eight years and is at present Book Review editor for ESP Today. Journal of English for Specific Purposes at Tertiary Level (ISSN 2334-9050). She has published articles and book chapters in prestigious journals and publishing houses and has served as peer reviewer for a wide number of journals both in Spain and abroad (eg. English for Specific Purposes, TESOL Quarterly or Studies in Higher Education). She is the head of the research group LaCAP (Languages applied to communication in academic and professional settings) and a member of the European Association of Languages for Specific Purposes (AELFE). In 2016 she was appointed Honorary member of the Spanish Association of University Presses (UNE) for her work as head of the University of Cadiz Press between 2011 and 2015.
